Thank you to everyone who came out to support at Bright Eye for our gallery reception! It was an awesome two months, and truly an honor to have my work hanging in the heart of Long Beach, filled with the love of the drunkest adults, pizza-faced children, and the cutest/drooliest doggos.
One of my favorite parts of this show was getting to share the spotlight with two other incredible local artists, Ayla O’Neill and Erin Intrabartola. Long Beach is a special place, despite its quirks and totally unaffordable real-estate. I’m lucky to live and struggle to survive here.
Katie & Jenny of Undercover Mother rocked the house with their harmonies while Zeebos cooked up mouth-watering burgers all night. Tragically, I missed out on getting a burger because I was too busy being an awkward social butterfly and having multiple half-conversations simultaneously. I was able to come back a few weeks later and finally get myself a burger. It was epically delicious.

This wall meant so much to me. Throughout this process, I learned a lot about myself, including but not limited to my inability to tie a fisherman’s knot. “Now Leaving my Comfort Zone” started out as a poetic and kind of cheesy title to a photo gallery that I was so mentally unprepared to create, and quickly manifested into the literal theme of this season of my life. I think I’ve been more creatively buried over the last 5 years than I realized, and my comfort zone was not even comfortable anymore; I was just hiding. Thank you to everyone who helped me temporarily step back into the light again, despite being terrified of the spotlight.
